Maharashtra Launches Bappa.org: Register Your Ganeshotsav Celebration, Get a Permanent Record Number and Government Certificate

The Maharashtra government’s Department of Cultural Affairs has launched Bappa.org, an official digital archive for documenting Ganeshotsav celebrations and traditions across the state.

Families, public Ganesh mandals and artists can submit details of their celebrations and, after verification, get a permanent record number along with an Official Cultural Preserver Certificate.

The initiative is not limited to large Ganesh mandals or public pandals. Citizens celebrating Ganeshotsav at home can also record their family traditions, rituals and Ganesh Sthapana. Photos, videos and stories can be submitted to the archive.

The submitted material is checked for authenticity before being published under the contributor’s name. Once accepted, the entry becomes part of Maharashtra’s permanent State Cultural Archive.

What do citizens get after registration?

Every accepted submission gets a permanent record number in the Maharashtra Ganeshotsav Archive. The portal shows the entry number in a format such as 2026-00000.

The contributor also receives an Official Cultural Preserver Certificate for sharing the Ganeshotsav story.

This allows families to place their Ganeshotsav traditions on an official record, including rituals and stories that may have been passed down through generations. Mandals and artisans can similarly document their celebrations and traditions.

How to submit your Ganeshotsav celebration on Bappa.org

The process does not require users to download an app or create a separate account.

Visit Bappa.org and select the option to share your story. Users can sign in with their mobile number or choose the option to continue through WhatsApp.

They can then send a photograph along with a few lines about their Ganeshotsav celebration or tradition. Photos, videos and stories can be submitted.

The submission is not published immediately. It is first checked by the team for authenticity. After verification, it is published under the contributor’s name and assigned its permanent archive number.

The contributor can then receive the Official Cultural Preserver Certificate associated with the submission.

Bappa.org describes itself as Maharashtra’s living Ganeshotsav archive, recording the state’s festival traditions “one home, one mandal, one story at a time.”
