In his letter dated October 31, Thackeray welcomed the upcoming metro inauguration but said addressing the area’s serious civic infrastructure problems was equally important.

He has sought immediate road repairs, asphalting and resurfacing across the area, along with repairs and beautification of roads beneath the metro corridor. He has also called for an effective waste collection system covering residential societies, townships and commercial establishments.

On traffic management, Thackeray has urged the state government to deploy adequate traffic police at congestion-prone locations and provide additional personnel for Hinjawadi. (Pune News)

A major concern raised in the letter is the supply of contaminated drinking water to residential complexes in the Hinjawadi-Maan-Marunji belt. Thackeray has named Blue Ridge Township, which has approximately 25,000 residents, Mhalunge Township, also with around 25,000 residents, Park Connect CHS, Park Astra CHS, Federation of Kohinoor Coral CHS and Fusion Towers Building A, among the affected residential areas.

According to the letter, the Mula River is the only source of drinking water for residents of these complexes, and contaminated water is currently being supplied to them. Thackeray expressed concern over the potential health impact, particularly on children and senior citizens.

To address the problem, he has demanded the construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) with adequate capacity to prevent pollution of the Mula River. He has also called for a permanent monitoring system to ensure untreated sewage is not discharged into the river, regular water quality testing and the supply of safe drinking water to residents.

Thackeray has urged the Chief Minister to take serious note of these concerns and direct the concerned departments to implement immediate and effective measures. (Pune News)
