How to Book Pune Metro Line 3 Tickets QR Code, App & One Pune Card

Passengers travelling on Pune Metro Line 3, the Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar corridor, can book tickets through the existing Pune Metro mobile application or purchase them at metro stations. However, commuters travelling between Line 3 and the existing two metro corridors will need to follow a separate QR code scanning process.

Pune Metro Line 3, operated by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), has a separate ticketing system from the two existing MahaMetro corridors: Line 1 (Purple Line), connecting PCMC and Swargate, and Line 2 (Aqua Line), connecting Vanaz and Ramwadi.

How to book Pune Metro Line 3 tickets

Passengers can book tickets for all three Pune Metro corridors through the existing Pune Metro mobile application, available on Android and iOS. The app provides ticket booking options for Line 1, Line 2 and Line 3.

Tickets can also be purchased at metro station counters and through ticket vending machines. QR-based ticketing is another option for commuters. (Pune News)

However, passengers should note that the Pune Metro WhatsApp chatbot currently does not provide an option to book tickets for Line 3.

How does ticketing work when changing metro lines?

MahaMetro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar explained at a press conference on Monday that passengers travelling across the existing two corridors and the new Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar corridor will receive tickets carrying two separate QR codes.

Commuters will have to scan the respective QR codes at the entry points of the two metro systems to continue their journey. This arrangement will allow passengers to plan journeys across all three corridors despite the separate ticketing systems.

Currently, MahaMetro issues a common ticket for travel on the Vanaz–Ramwadi and PCMC–Swargate corridors. Line 3, developed by PMRDA, will continue to operate separately.

Can you use One Pune Card on Line 3?

Yes. Passengers carrying a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), also known as the One Nation One Card, can use it to access the metro services. They can tap their cards at the respective entry and exit gates without purchasing separate paper or QR tickets.

Pune Metro expects one lakh additional daily passengers

The Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar corridor is expected to add around one lakh passengers to Pune Metro’s daily ridership, according to Hardikar.

The existing two corridors currently carry between 2.5 lakh and nearly three lakh passengers on an average day. Daily ridership has crossed the three-lakh mark on certain occasions.

The new corridor is expected to expand metro connectivity for IT employees and other commuters travelling between Hinjawadi and central Pune. (Pune News)
