Pune, September 16, 2026: The acquisition and technical processes for two key road projects in the city have gained momentum. A high-level joint meeting at the District Collector’s office reviewed the status of the 24-km High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) and the 65-km Inner Ring Road.
Proposals for the transfer of government lands required for both projects have been submitted to the authorities. The alignment for the Inner Ring Road has been finalised, according to officials.
Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram has directed that the amendment process under MRTP Section 37 for the changed alignment be implemented immediately. The directive was issued during the review meeting.
Officials said the next stage of the process will be carried out in coordination with the relevant departments. This includes further action regarding the acquisition of necessary defence and railway department lands for both the HCMTR and the Inner Ring Road.
The meeting was attended by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Works) Omprakash Divte, Deputy Commissioner (Land Acquisition) Nikhil More, City Engineer Aniruddha Pavaskar, and Chief Engineer Dinkar Gojare. The Land Acquisition Sub-Divisional Officer and senior officials from the Town Planning Department were also present.
The progress on land transfer proposals and the finalisation of the Inner Ring Road alignment mark a step forward for the two projects, which are crucial for Pune’s transportation system. The immediate implementation of the MRTP Section 37 amendment is expected to clear the way for the next phase of work.
