Pune: Traffic police clarifies confusion on social media about traffic restrictions for PM’s visit, check details

Traffic advisory for PM Modi Pune Visit

Pune, July 31, 2023: In an official announcement today, the Pune Traffic Police clarified the nature of traffic restrictions for tomorrow in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit. Owing to the circulating rumors on social media platforms that certain roads will be completely closed from 6 AM to 3 PM, the Traffic Police has clarified that these roads will only have limited access, as and when there is a VVIP convoy movement and not a complete shutdown.

The Prime Minister’s convoy will be moving through several routes in Pune, and during this time, traffic movement will be restricted. These roads include Pune University Chowk, Simla Office Chowk, Sancheti Chowk, S.G. Barve Chowk, Gadgil Putla Chowk, Budhwar Chowk, Sevasdan Chowk, Alka Chowk, Tilak Road, Jedhe Chowk, Fergusson College Road, Sangamwadi Road, Sadalbaba Chowk, Golf Club Chowk, and Airport Road.

In the face of conflicting reports causing confusion among Pune citizens, the traffic police department is urging the public to be aware of this VVIP movement. If possible, commuters should avoid the mentioned roads to avert any potential inconvenience.

Some social media reports said that motorists should completely avoid these roads. The Pune Traffic Police department is now advising to seek alternative routes during the specified timeframe. By offering this clarification, they aim to assuage public concerns and facilitate smoother commuting in the city during the Prime Minister’s visit.

In fact PuneNow had even earlier reported that it was a traffic advisory and not any restrictions or diversions on the above mentioned roads on account of the PM Modi’s visit to Pune.
