Pune Traffic Update: Major Diversions in Shivajinagar for Metro Construction

Traffic Diversion

May 03, 2024: In a bid to facilitate the ongoing construction work of pillars and girders for the Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line 3, Pune Traffic Police have announced significant traffic diversions in the Shivajinagar area.

The primary aim of these diversions is to alleviate traffic congestion between Veer Chaphekar Chowk (Agriculture College – Masobha Gate) and Shimla Office (IMD) and its surrounding vicinities. Effective from May 4, 2024, the following alterations in traffic routes will be put into operation:

Key Traffic Diversions at Shivajinagar

  1. Closure of the road from Veer Chaphekar Chowk towards Shimla Office (IMD) for all traffic. Additionally, the flyover in that direction will also be closed. Vehicles will be rerouted via Na Ta Wadi – Sakhar Sankul – Shivajinagar Metro – Shimla Office Chowk.
  2. Prohibition of right turns for vehicles coming from FC Road at Veer Chaphekar Chowk. They will proceed straight towards Na Ta Wadi and then turn right via Shivajinagar Metro Station towards Shimla Office Chowk.
  3. Implementation of a one-way system from Chaphekar Chowk to Na Ta Wadi. Commuters traveling from Na Ta Wadi to Chaphekar Chowk will have to take the route via Shivajinagar Station.
  4. Obligation for commuters traveling from JM Corner towards Shivajinagar Station to take a left turn at Shimla Office and proceed via Na Ta Wadi towards the Station.
  5. Closure of the route from Shivajinagar Station towards Na Ta Wadi via ST Stand for traffic.
  6. Requirement for vehicles heading from Shimla Office towards Pune University to utilize the Agriculture Flyover (Chaphekar Chowk).
  7. Designation of the entire section from Veer Chaphekar Chowk (Agriculture College – Masobha Gate) – Na Ta Wadi to Shimla Office (IMD) as a no-parking zone.

Implementation Details

These traffic adjustments will be enforced starting from May 4, 2024 (Saturday). Commuters are urged to take note of the aforementioned changes and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
