Pune: PCMC Cracks Down on Four Vehicles Polluting River

Pune, 27 April 2024: The environment department received a complaint from Kivale and Thergaon area that every day trucks, tractors, dumpers, Tempo-407, the R.M.C. plant’s mixer vehicles are dumping the debris on the banks of the river, causing river pollution. After that, the Environment Department conducted a physical inspection, laid a trap and took legal action against all these drivers on 24th and 25th April 2024. A fine of Rs 1 lakh has been imposed in this action.

Under the guidance of Hon. Joint City Engineer of Environmental Engineering Department Sanjay Kulkarni, Hon. Junior Engineer Swapnil Patil, Hon. Chemist Pushparaj Bhagwat took this action. The action was taken with the help of the environment team as well as the team of MSF and Mesco jawans.

4 vehicles have been caught and fined Rs. 25,000 each in this action taken on behalf of the Environment Department of the Municipal Corporation. Further action will be taken against those who will dump the debris in the river bed or cause river pollution and air pollution, said Hon. Joint City Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni.

The concerned people should take note that legal action will be taken even if it is found to be polluting the rivers or drains of the city or causing massive air pollution. The Municipal Corporation is committed to maintain the environment in the city and citizens have been appealed to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation.
