Central Railway has announced the full restoration of train services between Pune and Mumbai after a landslide damaged rail lines between Lonavala and Karjat during heavy rains in the first week of July.
In a release, the Central Railway spokesperson said that after twenty three days of continuous work, all three rail lines on the Karjat-Lonavala Section were restored and the normal train traffic resumed between Pune and Mumbai.
The spokesperson further shared that a total of 11,745 personnel worked on the restoration work, clocking a total of 1,40,940 man hours. Over 110 rakes full of restoration material was transported to the landslide site.
Karjat-Lonavala section is crucial for the rail connectivity between Mumbai and Pune and beyond to the South Indian destinations.
