Heavy Rains to Return Across Maharashtra From July 30; Jalgaon on Red Alert, Several Districts Under Orange Alert
Pune: Heavy rainfall activity is expected to intensify across Maharashtra from July 30, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing alerts for several districts. The Maharashtra Government has also advised people to remain cautious as widespread rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are likely over the next few days.
Jalgaon on Red Alert
Jalgaon district has been placed under a Red Alert for July 30. The district is likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at isolated places.
Orange Alert for Heavy to Very Heavy Rain
The following districts have been placed under an Orange Alert for July 30 due to the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall:
- Palghar
- Raigad
- Dhule
- Nashik
- Nashik Ghat areas
- Pune Ghat areas
- Satara Ghat areas
- Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
- Amravati
- Bhandara
- Chandrapur
- Gadchiroli
- Nagpur
- Wardha
Yellow Alert Across the Rest of Maharashtra
Except for the districts under Red, Orange and Green alerts, all remaining districts of Maharashtra are under a Yellow Alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. These include:
- Mumbai City
- Mumbai Suburban
- Thane
- Pune (excluding Ghat areas)
- Satara (excluding Ghat areas)
- Ahmednagar
- Beed
- Jalna
- Nandurbar
- Nanded
- Hingoli
- Parbhani
- Latur
- Washim
- Akola
- Buldhana
- Yavatmal
- Gondia
- Ratnagiri
- Sindhudurg
Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert as intense showers and stormy weather may affect normal life.
Green Alert for Light to Moderate Rain
Only four districts are under a Green Alert, where light to moderate rainfall is expected:
- Kolhapur
- Sangli
- Solapur
- Dharashiv
According to the Maharashtra Government’s weather advisory, rainfall activity is expected to increase across the state between July 29 and July 31. On July 30 and 31, rainfall is likely to intensify over Mumbai, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Raigad, Thane and Palghar districts.
The administration has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain, stay away from waterlogged and landslide-prone areas, and follow official weather updates.
