Pune: FDA advises citizens to be cautious while consuming cold beverages at shops
FDA has appealed citizens to be vigilant about industrial ice being used in cold drinks.
Food and Drug Administration, Pune has cautioned citizens to be vigilant while consuming cold drinks at shops during summer time.
Due to extreme summer heat, the demand for various types of cold drinks, milk shakes and other such products has increased. People are visiting shops and kiosks to enjoy these refreshing drinks.
FDA, however cautions citizens that due to increased demand for cold drinks and ice, many shopkeepers use industrial ice instead of edible ice to make these drinks and such drinks can be harmful to health.
FDA appeals citizens to be vigilant about the quality of ice being used in their beverages and consume cold drinks only at clean and trusted places.
Any instance of unhygienic practices or industrial ice being used in cold drinks may be reported to Food and Drug Administration Pune at 1800 222 365.
