Nashik: District Achieves Third Place in Maharashtra Good Governance Index

Nashik Good Governance Index Achievement

Nashik, Feb 11, 2024: Nashik’s commendable third rank in the Maharashtra Good Governance Index (DGGI) underscores its significant achievement in governance, marking it as a noteworthy example of effective administration and commitment to improving citizen services. This index, assessing governance through 10 sectors with 161 indicators, positions Maharashtra as the fifth state in India to implement such a detailed evaluation.

The district’s exceptional performance, particularly in citizen-centric governance and human resources development, placed it second only to Gondia and ahead of Pune, showcasing its dedication to excellence. Nashik scored 513 out of a possible 1,000 points, demonstrating the impact of its governance initiatives. Raigad led the index with 529 points, followed by Gondia with 518.

This achievement follows a letter from additional chief secretary Sujata Saunik, which celebrated Nashik’s position as highlighted in the Good Governance Index report unveiled by the chief minister on February 5. The recognition of Nashik’s third-place finish with 513 points reflects the district administration’s effective strategies and hard work.

Jalaj Sharma, the Collector of Nashik, shared his enthusiasm for the district’s recognition, attributing it to the team’s collective effort and dedication. This accolade encourages further improvement and innovation in governance, especially in areas identified for development.

Nashik district also achieved notable success in water quality testing, Vishakha complaint disposal, worker registration on the e-shram portal, and healthcare availability, further solidifying its status in the Nashik Good Governance Index Achievement.
