Nashik: NMC to Invest Rs 35 Crore in Road Repairs Pending Civic Panel’s Approval

Road Repair

In a significant move towards improving the city’s infrastructure, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has earmarked a whopping Rs 35 crore for road repair works across the city. This decision comes as the public works department of the civic body seeks the nod of the standing committee to commence the much-needed repairs.

The NMC has already completed the tender process, selecting contractors for each of the six divisions of the municipal corporation, ensuring that the road repairs, including pothole filling, are carried out efficiently and timely. This strategic preparation aims to get ahead of the model code of conduct, thereby avoiding any potential delays in the execution of the repairs.

Officials from the NMC highlighted the importance of finalizing the contractors well in advance. This proactive measure is expected to facilitate seamless pothole repair work throughout the city, with the contractors being responsible for the maintenance of the roads until the end of the next financial year.

The budget allocation for the repairs is thoughtfully distributed among the six divisions, with Nashik Road and Cidco divisions each receiving Rs 7 crore, Panchavati and Satpur divisions getting Rs 5 crore each, Nashik West division allotted Rs 6.5 crore, and Nashik East division receiving Rs 4.5 crore. These funds will primarily focus on repairing macadamized roads, ensuring the city’s road network, which spans approximately 2,125 km, is in optimal condition.

With this initiative, the NMC aims to significantly enhance the quality of roads across Nashik, addressing the long-standing issue of potholes and ensuring safer and smoother commutes for its residents.
