Nashik: Grape Harvest Festival to Showcase Region’s Wine Industry This Weekend

Nashik Grape Harvest Festival

Nashik is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of its grape and wine industry with a two-day grape harvest festival, organized by the state government’s tourism department. Set to take place from February 24 at the Green View Hotel, the event aims to highlight Nashik’s pivotal role in the country’s grape-growing sector.

Featuring approximately 50 grape farmers, the festival will offer attendees a chance to explore a diverse array of grape varieties. Additionally, 12 renowned wineries will participate, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to taste and learn more about the region’s exquisite wines. The festival, running from 11 am to 9 pm, is expected to attract around 4,000 tourists.

Adding to the excitement, the event will include tours of two local wineries, offering an insider’s look at the winemaking process, from grape crushing to the final product. This hands-on experience promises to be both educational and enjoyable, allowing guests to deepen their understanding of viticulture and winemaking.

Madhumati Sardesai, the Deputy Director (Tourism) of Nashik division, emphasizes the significance of the festival in promoting Nashik’s grape and wine industry. Recognized as the wine capital of India, Nashik is a major grape-growing belt, and the festival is part of ongoing efforts to attract more tourists to the region.

“The grape harvest festival is a testament to the government’s commitment to bolstering the grape and wine industry of Nashik and enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination,” Sardesai remarked.
