The proposed fare structure, however, is significantly higher than that of the existing Pune Metro network. Passengers travelling more than 18 km will pay ₹62, compared to the existing maximum fare of ₹35 on Pune Metro.

Under the proposed fare structure, journeys of up to 2 km will cost ₹12, while passengers travelling between 2 and 4 km will pay ₹25. The fare for 4–8 km is ₹37, increasing to ₹43 for 8–12 km and ₹49 for 12–18 km. Journeys exceeding 18 km will cost ₹62.

The fare structure provides for a base fare of ₹10 for the first 2 km, with the initial calculated fare of ₹12.36 rounded off to ₹12 for collection. The fares for the other distance slabs have also been rounded off to the nearest rupee. (Pune News)

In comparison, the existing Pune Metro charges a minimum fare of ₹10 and a maximum of ₹35. Its published 2026 fare structure includes charges of ₹20 for journeys between 2 and 4 km, ₹25 for 4–8 km and ₹30 for 8–16 km.

PMRDA Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari said the fares for Line 3 had been fixed in accordance with the concession agreement as the corridor was being developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, unlike the government-funded existing Pune Metro network. He added that the fares were not high compared to other Metro projects developed under the PPP model.

Anilkumar Saini, CEO of IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), said the fare structure would be reviewed after six months. The operator expects daily ridership to reach between 2 lakh and 2.5 lakh passengers.

The first train from Maan will depart at 6 am. The last train from Maan towards District Court will depart at 10:30 pm, while the last train from District Court towards Maan will depart at 11:40 pm.

Trains will operate at intervals of six minutes during peak hours and 12 minutes during non-peak hours.

Of the 23 stations on the corridor, 17 will initially open for passengers: Maan, Maan-MIDC Circle Phase II, Maan Bus Depot, Hinjawadi Phase II-Circle II, Hinjawadi Phase II-Circle I, Padmabhushan Chowk, Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, Hinjawadi Phase I, Wakad Chowk, Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Mitcon Balewadi, R K Laxman Museum Balewadi, Aundh, Sakal Nagar, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Agriculture College and District Court.

The remaining six stations are scheduled to open in phases later.

At District Court station in Shivajinagar, Line 3 will connect with MahaMetro’s Line 1 (Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate) and Line 2 (Vanaz to Ramwadi). A common mobile application and the One Pune Card will support travel across the Metro network.

The new corridor is expected to provide a direct Metro connection between the Hinjawadi IT hub and central Pune, with its passenger services beginning on November 4. (Pune News)
