PUNE: This year, Amader Barir Pujo is bringing the feeling of Durga Pujo to Pune, with seven days of celebration from Panchami to Dashami, October 15 to October 21, 2026.
And there is one thing the organisers want everyone to know: there is no membership fee.
“Blessings don’t ask for membership, so why should we?” say the organisers, capturing the spirit behind a Pujo that is free and open to all.
Set to be the biggest Durga Pujo in West Pune, Amader Barir Pujo returns for its third year at Wakad, bringing together the sounds, flavours and traditions that make Pujo special: the rhythm of the dhaak, the devotion of Pushpanjali, traditional Bengali bhog, cultural celebrations and the lively Anandomela.
For Bengali families in Pune, it is a chance to relive the familiar feeling of Pujo back home. And for others across the city, it is an invitation to discover Bengal through its food, rituals, music and community spirit.
The celebration also reflects the wider cultural significance of Durga Puja. In 2021, UNESCO recognised Durga Puja as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, acknowledging its rich combination of ritual, art, music, food and community participation.
Organised by ProPlus Data Foundation, Amader Barir Pujo is built around a simple idea: a celebration of Maa Durga should not come with a membership card.
From the first beats of the dhaak to the final day of Dashami, the Pujo invites Pune to eat, pray, celebrate and experience a little bit of Bengal together.
You don’t need to know the rituals. You don’t need to be Bengali. Just come with family, bring your appetite and experience the Pujo.
