Monsoon 2026 Commences its Withdrawal Journey From India

The Southwest Monsoon 2026 has commenced its return journey from India today, September 19, 2026.

It has started withdrawing from western Rajasthan two days late against its normal withdrawal commencement of September 17.

Weather experts are predicting further withdrawal from some more parts of Rajasthan & some parts of Punjab & Saurashtra & Kutch during next 3-4 days.

IMD had predicted a below average monsoon activity over Indian Peninsula in 2026 and the actual data till date shows a deficit of about 15 percent across the country.

Formation of El Nino over the central and eastern Pacific Ocean has impacted the magnitude of rainfall this monsoon season.
