CBSE Class 10 Results 2026 Declared: Pass Percentage Rises to 93.70% as Girls Outshine Boys
NEW DELHI, April 15, 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officially declared the Class 10 Board Examination 2026 (Session 1) results today, April 15. This year’s data reflects a marginal but steady improvement in academic performance, with the overall pass percentage climbing to 93.70%, a slight increase from last year’s 93.66%.
Performance Highlights and Gender Trends
Out of the 24,71,777 students who appeared for the exams, a total of 23,16,008 successfully qualified. Continuing a long-standing trend, girls have once again outperformed boys. The pass percentage for female candidates stands at 94.99%, while male candidates recorded a pass percentage of 92.6%.
Academic excellence remained high, with 8.96% of students scoring above the 90% mark, and 2.24% crossing the elite 95% threshold. Notably, Children With Special Needs (CWSN) recorded a robust pass rate of 96.24%.
Institutional and Regional Rankings
Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) led the charts among school categories with a near-perfect pass rate of 99.57%, followed closely by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) at 99.42%. Private schools maintained a steady performance at 93.77%.
Regionally, Trivandrum and Vijayawada emerged as the top-performing districts, both recording an impressive 99.79% pass rate. In contrast, the Guwahati region recorded the lowest pass percentage at 85.32%.
New “Two Board” Policy and Improvements
In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE has implemented a Two Board Examination policy starting this session. Students now have the opportunity to appear for a second board exam in May 2026 to improve their performance in up to three subjects.
To discourage unhealthy competition, the Board has upheld its policy of not releasing a topper list or awarding divisions. Instead, merit certificates will be issued to the top 0.1% of students in individual subjects via DigiLocker.
