Pune to Nashik in 3 Hours! Government approves new highway

Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway

Pune, Feb 08, 2024: In a major infrastructure development move, the Maharashtra government has given the green light to the construction of the 213 km Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway. This ambitious project is set to dramatically reduce the travel time between Pune and Nashik from five hours to just three hours.

Spearheaded by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), this initiative is part of a broader plan to build a 4,217 km highway network across the state.

The proposed Pune-Nashik expressway, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 20,000 crore, is expected to significantly boost the industrial growth in the Pune, Nagar, and Nashik districts. By enhancing connectivity, the expressway aims to facilitate smoother travel and commerce between these pivotal regions.

The expressway route is designed to pass through several key towns, including Rajgurunagar, Chakan, Manchar, and the renowned pilgrimage site of Shirdi, ensuring that it serves as a vital link for both commuters and pilgrims. To achieve optimal travel efficiency, the expressway will be divided into three segments. The first 135 km stretch will connect Pune to Shirdi, promising a comfortable journey for travelers.

Following this, a 60 km section will extend from the Shirdi Interchange to the Nashik-Niphad Interchange, integrating into the Surat-Chennai Expressway. The final 60 km leg will lead into Nashik from the Nashik-Niphad Interchange, upgrading the existing Nashik-Niphad State Highway to ensure a smooth travel experience.

The completion of the Pune-Nashik expressway is anticipated to revolutionize the region’s transport system, connecting numerous towns and cities while promoting economic development through its modern infrastructure and reduced travel times.
