Pune: Hinjawadi Road Development Gains Momentum With Strict Timelines Adopted at District-Level Meeting
Pune: Road development in Hinjawadi, Maan and Marunji is set to gather pace, with the administration targeting the start of actual works from December 1, 2026. District Collector Jitendra Dudi has directed officials to complete 60% to 70% of the land acquisition, consent and advance possession process by October 15 so that tenders can be taken forward without delay.
The timelines were set during a high-level review meeting chaired by Dudi to address road development, traffic congestion, land acquisition and other infrastructure issues affecting Hinjawadi, Maan and Marunji.
Six major roads have been identified to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion in the Hinjawadi IT corridor. The administration will focus on securing the required land over the next few weeks before moving ahead with the tendering and execution of the road works.
Village-level guidance camps will also be organised for farmers and landowners affected by the proposed works. Officials will explain the land acquisition process, Transferable Development Rights (TDR) provisions, residential-use regulations and benefits available to landowners.
Apart from the six identified roads, authorities will examine the feasibility of two additional alternative roads. Options being considered include routes around Wipro Chowk, improved Punawale-Marunji connectivity and canal-side roads.
The use of canal and irrigation department land for road development is also being explored. Proposals for the required land are targeted to be submitted by September 30, while the necessary approvals are planned to be secured during October.
Traffic bottlenecks in and around the Hinjawadi corridor were also discussed at the meeting. Authorities have been directed to take up measures such as road widening, pothole repairs and removal of traffic obstructions, along with better coordination with traffic police at major congestion points including Bhumkar Chowk and Ravet.
The meeting also reviewed river pollution and sewage management in the area. Developers and IT companies have been directed to ensure that treated wastewater does not enter the river.
Water supply and land compensation issues involving the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) were also discussed. Officials were instructed to improve coordination between departments to speed up pending infrastructure works.
The meeting was attended by MLA Shankar Mandekar, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Abhijit Chaudhary, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, senior officials and citizens from Hinjawadi, Maan and Marunji.
