Pune: Dr Bhagwan Pawar Reinstated as PMC Health Chief

Dr Bhagwan Pawar PMC Health Chief

Pune, Oct 20, 2023: Dr Bhagwan Pawar has been reinstated as the health chief of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), as per the latest directive from the Maharashtra state government.

Dr Pawar was initially appointed to the role on March 11 for a tenure of two years. However, after only five months of service, he was relieved from his duties and transferred to Mumbai on September 5.

Following this unanticipated transfer, Dr Pawar had approached the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT), requesting a reconsideration of the decision. Subsequently, MAT issued an order on October 11 to review the situation.

In an official decree, the deputy secretary of the Maharashtra Government, Priyanka Kulkarni-Chhapwale, instructed the PMC commissioner to reinstate Dr Pawar in his previous position as the health chief. Prior to the transfer, Pawar had been actively involved as the assistant director of health services under the blindness control programme in Mumbai.
