Jantar Mantar No Longer Designated Protest Venue; Center Notifies Three New Venues
In the backdrop of recent protests at Jantar Mantar and the venue’s proxmity to the Parliament of India and other sensitive establishments, Union Home Ministry has de-notified Jantar Mantar as a designated protest venue.
Delhi Police shared this information via Standing Order No. L&O/48/2026 on Monday.
Three new protest venues have been notified in this order. These venues are:
- Ramlila Ground
- Burari Ground
- CBD Ground, East Delhi
The order, signed by Anurag Kumar, Commissioner, Delhi Police, further stated that the SOPs for organizing protests at these venues will be shared soon.
Union Home Ministry had constituted a committee to examine alternative venue for citizen protests and based on the recommendations of the committee, the new venues have been finalized.
