This experience center showcases Dharavi’s redevelopment plans, neighborhoods and workplaces to help build confidence among the residents and discourage rumors and misconceptions.

Besides being Asia’s biggest slum, Dharavi is also an economic engine in itself. It houses many industries such as pottery, food processing, plastic recycling and leather businesses. After redevelopment, the government claims these industries will get better dignity and infrastructure to prosper and contribute towards improving the living standards of those who are associated with them.

The Dharavi Experience Center is expected to provide a quick comparison between what Dharavi is like today and what it would become after the redevelopment, showcasing its evolving character.

Alongside, a song titled ‘Dharavi Ka Sal’ sung by Shankar Mahadevan and a book ‘Mere Sapnon Ki Dharavi’ were also released by CM Fadnavis.

On this occasion, the CEO of Dharavi Redevelopment Project and Slum Rehabilitation Authority, Dr. Mahendra Kalyankar and BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide were present along with other officials.
