Make Hinjawadi Pothole Free in Seven Days; Pune District Collector

Pune, October 03, 2026: Recently, Pune District Collector, Jitendra Dudi reviewed traffic and infrastructure situation in Hinajwadi and Chakan areas and found that the deadline to make Hinjawadi pothole free by September 30 was not met.
During the review, Dudi directed all agencies to complete the work of repairing all potholes in Hinjawadi within seven days, while ensuring durable repairs and not just a temporary patchwork.
If a commuter dies in a road accident due to potholes, register an FIR against those responsible for maintaining the road.
He further said that merely filling potholes would not solve the problem and effective stormwater drainage system should be developed to prevent waterlogging and frequent road damage.
The collector directed PRMDA and MIDC to survey drains in the area, identify encroachments and remove them to ensure smooth flow of water. Where the drains are blocked due to authorized constructions, alternative paths for water drainage should be identified.
All anti-encroachments activities that were suspended due to Ganeshotsav should now resume while ensure the encroachments do not return.
Dudi also emphasized on planning road dividers, U-turns and junctions keeping in the mind the traffic flow, vehicle movement and future traffic growth.
ITMS (Intelligent Traffic Management System) should be implemented in Hinjawadi and Chakan industrial areas to better manage the traffic. Police were directed to act against private buses, ST buses and other vehicles that park or stop at unauthorized spots and pick and drop should happen only at designated stops.
Gas pipeline related issues and river pollution were also discussed and concerned agencies such as MNGL and MPCB were directed to take necessary actions.
