The Man-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 has moved a step closer to becoming operational after all safety and technical observations raised by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) were addressed. During the meeting, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL) Managing Director Anil Kumar Saini presented a detailed update on the current status of the metro corridor and the work completed so far. PMRDA Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan, Executive Engineer Yogesh Kulkarni and other officials also attended the review.

Officials said every deficiency pointed out by the CMRS on safety and technical aspects has now been rectified. With the compliance process completed, the project has crossed one of the final regulatory requirements before commercial operations can begin.

The Maan-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar metro is expected to play an important role in improving connectivity between Pune city and the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park at Hinjawadi. The line is expected to serve lakhs of IT professionals and daily commuters travelling along one of the city’s busiest traffic corridors.

The administration said the metro is expected to reduce travel time, lower fuel consumption and ease congestion on the roads connecting Shivajinagar, Baner, Balewadi and Hinjawadi. Officials said that the focus is now on completing the remaining formalities required before passenger services are launched.
