Speeding Car Collides With Scooter in Horrific Highway Crash; Viral Video Sparks Debate Over Fault
Kankipadu: A chilling video of a high-speed collision between a Hyundai Creta and a scooter has gone viral, highlighting the lethal consequences of highway negligence. The incident, which reportedly took place in Kankipadu, has ignited a fierce debate online regarding road safety protocols and who carries the primary blame for the near-fatal encounter.
The CCTV footage captures a white Hyundai Creta traveling at a high velocity on a national highway. Simultaneously, a scooter carrying two individuals, neither wearing helmets, attempts to cross the busy expanse. The rider appears to intersect the road at a diagonal angle, moving toward the wrong side of traffic in an attempt to cut across.
A Collision of Errors
The impact was instantaneous and violent. With the car traveling at highway speeds, the driver had no window to brake effectively. The force of the collision launched the scooter rider into the air, while the pillion passenger was dragged along the asphalt.
Adding to the tragedy, an innocent bystander standing near the junction was also struck by the debris and suffered injuries.
In the immediate aftermath, the car’s airbags deployed, allowing the vehicle’s occupants to exit without apparent serious injury. However, the scooter rider remained on the ground, visibly incapacitated and unable to stand.

Public Outcry and the “Blame Game”
The footage, shared on X (formerly Twitter), has racked up thousands of views, with netizens divided on who is responsible:
- The Scooterist’s Negligence: Many pointed out that the rider was traveling on the wrong side, failed to wear safety gear, and crossed a high-speed corridor without stopping to check for oncoming traffic.
- The Car’s Speed: Others argued that the Creta driver was over-speeding near a junction marked by a zebra crossing, where caution is legally mandated.
- The Infrastructure: A segment of viewers blamed the lack of controlled crossings on national highways that pass through populated areas.
“The scooter is clearly in the wrong here. How do people risk their lives cutting corners like that in the middle of a highway?” one user commented. Conversely, another stated, “Both are wrong. The car shouldn’t be that fast, and those idiots shouldn’t be crossing like that.”
Road Safety Reminder
While the current medical status of the victims remains unconfirmed and police action is pending, the incident serves as a grim reminder for motorists. Authorities consistently urge drivers to reduce speed near intersections and remind two-wheeler riders that “cutting corners” on highways is a recipe for disaster.
