Mumbai, November 22, 2025: The mega city saw a brief disruption in suburban train services on Saturday after a major fire broke out along the tracks near Dharavi. The incident caused delays on the Western Railway route, particularly between Bandra and Mahim stations. The fire in Dharavi was reported around 12.30 pm in hutments located near Navrang Compound off 60-Feet Road, close to the railway line.

Officials from Western Railway and BMC confirmed that the fire in Dharavi has been brought under control. Train operations resumed shortly after, although services were initially affected while emergency teams worked to contain the blaze.

• Five trains were held between Mahim and Bandra during the incident
• Harbour line services between Bandra and Mahim were suspended for a short time
• First down Harbour line train resumed at 2.11 pm with a speed limit of 10 kmph
• Speed restrictions on up fast line were lifted at 2.29 pm
• All services are now back to normal operations

Authorities have ordered a probe to determine what triggered the fire in Dharavi. Initial reports indicate that the fire originated in hutments close to the tracks, but the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.

Local officials have stated that despite the proximity to residential settlements and railway lines, quick action by emergency teams helped prevent escalation.
