The recognition was formally handed over in a special ceremony. Swapnil Dongarikar, the official adjudicator from Guinness World Records for India, presented the certificate to MahaMetro’s Managing Director, Shravan Hardikar. The event was graced by the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

This isn’t just a ribbon on a project; it’s a symbol of a city transforming. The Chief Minister highlighted that this world-class infrastructure has given Nagpur a new global identity, establishing it as a city of excellent urban facilities.

So, what makes this viaduct so special? Stretching an impressive 5.637 kilometers along the busy Kamptee Road, it’s a marvel of modern engineering. Built on single-column pillars, it’s a masterclass in efficiently using space and technology. The structure used a massive 1,650 tons of steel.

But its true genius is in its clever, four-layer design:

  • Ground Level: The existing road that was already there.
  • First Deck: A brand-new highway for regular traffic.
  • Second Deck: The dedicated line for the Nagpur Metro.
  • Integrated Stations: The viaduct itself houses five metro stations: Gaddigodam, Kadbi Chowk, Indora Chowk, Nari Road, and Automotive Square.

This intelligent design has been a game-changer for Nagpur’s commuters. By moving both metro and highway traffic onto this stacked structure, it has drastically eased the infamous traffic congestion on Kamptee Road, offering citizens a much smoother and faster travel experience.

It’s a proud moment for Nagpur, a landmark achievement for Maharashtra, and a shining example of India’s growing prowess in building futuristic infrastructure.
