Maharashtra Weather: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Heavy Rain in 28 Districts on Friday; Rain to Reduce from August 30

Heavy rains continue to lash several parts of Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) placing large parts of the state under weather alerts. On Friday, the Konkan belt and parts of Western Maharashtra are on alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
The entire Konkan region is under a Yellow Alert. Districts such as Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are likely to receive heavy downpours, while Palghar and Thane may see thunderstorms with gusty winds. Mumbai, however, is expected to get only moderate showers over the next 36 hours.
In Western Maharashtra, the ghats of Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur are on Orange Alert for very heavy rainfall. Sangli and Solapur are expected to receive light to moderate showers. Intermittent light to moderate rain will continue in Pune, while Mumbai is likely to see moderate showers.
Marathwada is also on alert, with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, and Nanded under Yellow Alert for thunderstorms and heavy rain. Latur and Dharashiv are expected to get moderate rainfall.
In North Maharashtra, districts including Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, and Ahilyanagar are likely to see thunderstorms with heavy rain. The Nashik ghats could receive particularly intense showers.
Vidarbha will not be spared either. Akola and Amravati may receive heavy rain, while Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal are all under Yellow Alert for thunderstorms and showers.

According to IMD, the rainfall intensity is likely to reduce across Maharashtra, including in Mumbai and Pune, after August 30 as the low-pressure area over southern Chhattisgarh weakens. Until then, authorities have urged residents in affected districts to remain cautious, especially in ghat regions where the risk of landslides and flooding remains high.
