Pune: 17-Year-Old Boy Found Hanging at Home in Dhankawdi, Probe Underway
Pune, June 30, 2025 – A 17-year-old boy was found hanging from an iron rod in his home in Dhankawdi on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 7 PM, and despite immediate medical attention, the teenager succumbed to his injuries later that night at a private hospital in Balajinagar.
According to the Sahakarnagar police, the deceased was a school dropout who frequently created reels and videos of his travels to various locations. His parents, who work as casual laborers, were present at home along with his siblings when the incident took place. Police have seized his mobile phone for further investigation and registered an accidental death case.
Senior Inspector Rahul Gaud of Sahakarnagar police provided additional details, stating, “The boy had recently visited a city in Uttar Pradesh. After returning, he mostly stayed indoors and rarely went out. On Saturday evening, he went to the bathroom and hanged himself.”
While preliminary investigations suggest suicide, authorities are awaiting further forensic and digital evidence to determine the exact cause. “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide, but our probe is ongoing,” Gaud added.
The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, raising concerns about mental health awareness among adolescents.
