PMRDA Launches Major Land Acquisition Drive for 150 New Roads and Infrastructure Expansion

In a significant push to enhance infrastructure and ease traffic congestion, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has begun acquiring land for 150 new roads and approximately 85 hectares of reserved plots. The process, which started on May 28, aims to support sustainable urban growth across the rapidly expanding Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR).
PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase emphasized the importance of proactive land acquisition, stating, “With urban expansion and rising demand for better transport networks, securing land in advance is crucial to avoid delays and ensure planned development.” The initiative spans key talukas, including Maval, Haveli, Mulshi, and Shirur, covering PMR’s vast 6,246.26 sq km jurisdiction.
To streamline the process, PMRDA has invited tenders for a consultant to oversee end-to-end land acquisition. The selected firm will handle everything from revenue surveys to compensation assessments under the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013. The consultant will also coordinate with local authorities to ensure smooth execution.
The consultancy period is set for 30 months, with work expected to begin within 15 days of appointment. Interested firms must submit bids by June 6, 2025.
