Pune: With the new academic year starting on June 16, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued a final warning to private school bus and van operators running without renewed fitness certificates. The RTO has raised serious concerns about student safety, noting that many vehicles remain uninspected despite multiple reminders.

Deputy RTO Swapnil Bhosale emphasized, “We have repeatedly instructed schools and transport providers to complete mandatory inspections. Special facilities have been arranged for their convenience, yet some continue to ignore these safety requirements.”

To expedite the process, the RTO has set up a dedicated inspection facility at the brake test track office in Dive, Taluka Purandar. These facilities will operate on Saturdays, Sundays, and government holidays from 9 AM to 5 PM, exclusively for school vehicles.

The department has adopted a zero-tolerance policy, warning that any school transport vehicle found without a valid fitness certificate will be impounded immediately, followed by legal action.

Parents have supported the RTO’s strict measures, reinforcing the importance of child safety in school transportation.
