Weather Alert: Maharashtra’s ghat areas to witness very heavy rains on 6-7 July, says weather scientist

Weather Alert for Maharashtra

Pune, July 03, 2023: Leading weather scientist, Vineet Kumar, specializing in ocean-cyclone interaction and global cyclone activity changes, has issued a severe weather alert for several areas in Maharashtra. The towns of Khandala, Lonavala, Matheran, Mahabaleshwar, Wai, and Mulshi are expected to experience very heavy rainfall on July 6 and 7.

Due to this anticipated weather change, Kumar recommends that all non-essential travel to these Ghat areas should be avoided. Extra precautions should be taken by those planning to cross the Pune-Mumbai expressway, a route known for its tricky driving conditions during heavy rains.

Pune city is also likely to experience continuous light to moderate rain on these dates.
