Wakad Area Around the Highway Severely Waterlogged

Pune, July 06, 2026: Continuous monsoon rainfall has caused notable water accumulation on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) near the Wakad stretch, slowing down the speed of regular vehicular movement along this important stretch.

The heavy rain resulted in rapid water collection across the low-lying sections, underpasses, and service lanes near Wakad. The localized flooding has created bottle-necks for daily commuters and IT professionals heading toward the nearby Hinjawadi IT park, forcing vehicles to drive through shallow water and leading to bumper-to-bumper traffic jams during peak travel hours.

Traffic police and highway administration personnel are actively managing the situation on-ground. Teams have been deployed at major intersections to divert cars away from heavily waterlogged service lanes and ensure steady movement along the main flyovers. Commuters are advised to exercise caution, maintain safe driving distances on the slipper surfaces, and buffer in additional travel time for their journeys through the Wakad junction until the water fully recedes.
