Southern Command Holds First Inter-Formation Yoga Championship; Nine Teams Compete at Belagavi

The Southern Command Yoga Championship 2026–27 was held at Belagavi, with nine teams competing in what was the first Inter-Formation Yoga Championship of its kind in the Indian Army.
The championship was conducted by the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre and included Individual, Pair and Group events.
Participants competed in Traditional, Artistic and Rhythmic Yogasanas across different categories. The events tested balance, flexibility and endurance, along with discipline and coordination.
The championship also served as the selection platform for the Southern Command Yoga Team, which will take part in the forthcoming Inter-Command Yoga Championship.
The Indian Army said yoga plays a role in supporting health, mental well-being and operational readiness.
