Pune-Nashik Rail Route: MLC Satyajeet Tambe Urges CM and DCM to Retain the Original Route Through Sangamner

Pune-Nashik High-Speed Rail Project: Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis Advances Development

In a significant development surrounding the semi-high speed railway project between Pune and Nashik, Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) member Satyajeet Tambe has voiced strong opposition to the Maharashtra Government’s decision to alter the originally planned route. The original route, which was set to pass through Sangamner tehsil, is now proposed to be diverted to include Shirdi taluka instead.

Controversy Over Route Diversion

MLC Tambe’s dissatisfaction stems from a recent announcement by the state government, which has shifted the path of this crucial rail link, diverting it away from Sangamner towards Shirdi. This decision comes despite significant investments already poured into the project, including an allocation of Rs 2,424 crore in the Union budget and the acquisition of 103 agricultural plots within Sangamner tehsil.

Impact on Sangamner

The alteration of the Pune-Nashik rail route has sparked concerns among Sangamner residents and MLC Tambe alike. The original route through Sangamner was anticipated to boost local employment opportunities and expedite the transportation of agricultural produce to major urban centers. Tambe questions the rationale behind this last-minute route change, highlighting the lack of transparency and feasibility studies accompanying this decision.

MLC Tambe’s Appeal to State Leadership

In a bid to overturn the government’s decision, Tambe has reached out to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He emphasizes the potential economic upliftment that the railway could bring to Sangamner, arguing that the taluka’s exclusion from the railway map would be a significant loss. Furthermore, Tambe points out the redundancy of adding more rail connectivity to Shirdi, which already enjoys sufficient train services.

The Future of Pune-Nashik Rail Connectivity

As the debate over the Pune-Nashik rail route continues, the focus remains on the potential benefits such infrastructure could bring to the connected regions. The project, managed by MahaRail, aims to link four major industrial estates across Pune and Nashik, promising enhanced connectivity and economic growth. However, the final routing decision will play a crucial role in determining the real beneficiaries of this ambitious railway project.

As discussions between MLC Tambe and the state’s top officials unfold, stakeholders eagerly await a resolution that aligns with the original vision of the Pune-Nashik rail route, ensuring equitable development and prosperity for all regions involved.
