Commuters travelling from Hinjawadi to different parts of Pune can now connect to the existing Pune Metro network through the pedestrian bridge at District Court Metro Station.

The facility allows passengers travelling on the new Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 to interchange with Line 1 (Purple Line) and Line 2 (Aqua Line), making onward journeys across the city easier.

Passengers travelling from Line 3 can use the pedestrian bridge to reach the District Court station serving the existing MahaMetro network. From there, they can board Line 1, which connects PCMC with Swargate, or Line 2, which connects Vanaz with Ramwadi. Same can be done for the return journey from other other lines to Pune Metro Line 3.

This interchange provides Hinjawadi commuters access to the existing metro network and its destinations across Pune without having to rely entirely on road transport for their onward journeys. (Pune News)

However, commuters changing between Line 3 and the existing two corridors should note that the three lines operate under separate ticketing arrangements. MahaMetro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar explained at a press conference on Monday that passengers travelling across the two metro systems will receive tickets carrying two separate QR codes. They will have to scan the respective QR codes at the entry points of the two systems to continue their journey.

Tickets for Line 3 can be booked through the existing Pune Metro mobile application, which also offers booking for Lines 1 and 2. Passengers can alternatively purchase tickets at metro station counters or through ticket vending machines. The Pune Metro WhatsApp chatbot currently does not offer ticket booking for Line 3.

Passengers with a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), also known as the One Nation One Card, can tap their cards at the respective entry and exit gates across the metro services without purchasing separate paper or QR tickets.

The Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar corridor is expected to add around one lakh passengers to Pune Metro’s daily ridership. The existing two corridors currently carry between 2.5 lakh and nearly three lakh passengers on an average day. (Pune News)
