Pune: Major Roads to Close, No-Parking Zones, Diversions and Parking Arrangements; Complete Traffic Guide
Pune, September 23, 2026: Pune Traffic Police have announced road closures, diversions, no-parking zones and designated parking areas across the city for the Ganesh Visarjan procession on September 25 and 26. Traffic restrictions will begin at different times depending on the road, while a 48-hour restriction on heavy vehicles will come into force from September 25.
Motorists have been asked to check the traffic arrangements before travelling and use the alternative routes provided by the police.
Major roads to be closed for Ganesh Visarjan
The following roads will be closed to traffic during the immersion procession:
- Shivaji Road: Kakasaheb Gadgil Statue Junction to Jedhe Chowk — from 5 pm on September 25 until the procession ends, as required.
- Laxmi Road: Sant Kabir Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk — from 5 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Bajirao Road: Savarkar Chowk to Futka Buruj Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Kumthekar Road: Tilak Chowk to Chitale Corner Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Ganesh Road: Daruwala Pool to Jijamata Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Kelkar Road: Budhwar Chowk to Alka Talkies Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Tilak Road: Jedhe Chowk to Tilak Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Shastri Road: Senadatta Police Chowki to Alka Talkies Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Jangli Maharaj Road: Jhansi Rani Chowk to Khanduji Baba Chowk — from 5 pm on September 25 until the procession ends, as required.
- Karve Road: Nal Stop Chowk to Khanduji Baba Chowk — from 5 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Fergusson College Road: Khanduji Baba Chowk to Fergusson College main gate — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Bhandarkar Road: PYC Gymkhana to Goodluck Chowk and Natraj Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Pune-Satara Road: Volga Chowk to Jedhe Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Solapur Road: Seven Loves Chowk to Jedhe Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Prabhat Road: Deccan Police Station to Shelar Mama Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
- Bagade Road: Sonya Maruti Chowk to Phadke Haud Chowk — from 10 am on September 25 until the procession ends.
Diversion points for motorists
Once the main Ganesh Visarjan procession begins, Pune Police will divert traffic at several points before vehicles reach the closed roads.
The diversion points include Jhansi Rani Chowk on Jangli Maharaj Road, Kakasaheb Gadgil Statue Chowk on Shivaji Road, Sant Kabir Chowk on Laxmi Road, Seven Loves Chowk on Solapur Road, Sarasbaug Junction on Bajirao Road, Senadatta Police Chowki on Lal Bahadur Shastri Road, Nal Stop on Karve Road and Goodluck Chowk on Fergusson College Road.
Police have also suggested a Ring Road route for motorists travelling across the city during the procession:
Karve Road → Nal Stop Chowk → Law College Road → Senapati Bapat Road → Senapati Bapat Road Junction → Ganeshkhind Road → Simla Office Chowk → Sancheti Hospital Chowk → Engineering College Chowk → Ambedkar Road → Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk → Maldhakka Chowk → Bolhai Chowk → Narpatgiri Chowk → Nehru Road → Seven Loves Chowk → Shankarsheth Road → Shantinagar Road → Gultekdi Market Yard → Market Yard Junction → Satara Road → Volga Chowk (Laxminarayan Cinema) → Sinhagad Road Junction → Lal Bahadur Shastri Road → Senadatta Police Chowki → Anant Kanhere Path → Mhatre Bridge → Nal Stop.
No-parking restrictions from September 24
No-parking restrictions for all types of vehicles will come into force on major roads from 11 pm on September 24 and continue until the main Ganesh Visarjan procession concludes.
The roads covered include Laxmi Road, Kelkar Road, Kumthekar Road, Tilak Road, Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, Shastri Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, Karve Road and Fergusson College Road.
Parking will also be prohibited within 100 metres on both sides of the road between Khanduji Baba Chowk and Hotel Vaishali.
Heavy vehicles banned for 48 hours
Entry of all types of heavy vehicles into Pune city will be prohibited for 48 hours from 12.01 am on September 25 until midnight on September 26.
Traffic changes at Dhayari Phata
Traffic from Dhayari Phata towards Umbrya Ganpati Chowk will be stopped from 11 am to midnight on September 25.
Vehicles coming from Swargate will have to use Dhayari Flyover → Rajyog Society Chowk → Nanded City Chowk → Canal Bridge → DSK → Dhayari → Umbrya Ganpati Chowk as the alternative route.
Vehicles travelling towards Vadgaon Bhaji Mandai on Sinhagad Road, including towards Charwad Vasti, Tukainagar and Raikar, will also be stopped from 11 am to midnight. They can use Goyal Ganga Chowk via Sinhagad College Road or travel via Veer Baji Pasalkar Chowk.
Traffic changes in Keshavnagar-Mundhwa
A one-way arrangement will be in place from 6 am on September 25 until the Ganesh Visarjan concludes.
Vehicles travelling from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, Keshavnagar towards Manjari will have to take Manjari Road → Renuka Mata Mandir → U-turn → Manjari Road.
Vehicles coming from Gayran Vasti towards Mundhwa Chowk will travel via Renuka Mata Mandir → left towards Davi → Venktesh Grafica → U-turn → Mundhwa Chowk.
Traffic changes in Sasane Nagar-Hadapsar
Traffic restrictions will be imposed as required from 6 am to midnight on September 24 and 25.
Traffic from Kalepadal Underpass towards Sasane Nagar Main Road will be stopped. The alternative route is Kalepadal Underpass → Samruddhi Society U-turn → Ravi Park Road → Handewadi Road → Davi → Sasane Nagar Underpass.
Traffic from Kalepadal towards Navnath Chowk Ganpati Mandir and towards Sasane Nagar Main Road via D-Mart will also be stopped. Motorists can travel via Kalepadal → Tukai Darshan → Gondhalenagar → Hadapsar Gadital.
Vehicles travelling from New English School DP Road near Sasane Nagar Underpass towards Sasane Nagar Main Road will not be allowed. They can use Sasane Nagar Underpass → Saiyadnagar → Handewadi Road → Ravi Park Road → Kalepadal Underpass, or travel via Sasane Nagar Underpass → Devdari/Ramtekdi Road.
Traffic from Hadapsar towards Sasane Nagar via Sayyadnagar will be diverted towards Kalepadal at the D-Mart road near SBI Bank.
Designated parking arrangements
Pune Traffic Police have also identified parking areas for Ganeshotsav and Ganesh Visarjan. Citizens have been asked to use these locations instead of parking vehicles on roads.
The designated locations include New English School, Ramanbaug; Shivaji Akhada vehicle parking; Hamalwada near Patrakar Bhavan Chowk; Gogate Prashala; AISSPMS ground near RTO Chowk; S.M. Joshi; PMPML Bhavan near Puram Chowk; Peshwe Park near Sarasbaug; Harjivan Hospital near Savarkar Chowk; Parvati Paytha parking; Parvati and Dandekar bridges; Dandekar Bridge to Ganeshmala; Ganeshmala to Rajaram Bridge; Nilayam Talkies; BMCC College ground; Abasaheb Garware College; Sanmati Bal Niketan College ground; Fergusson College; Jain Hostel/BMCC Road ground; Marathwada College; Ghole Road; Ranade Path; Congress Bhavan Road; New English School Tilak Road; and the riverbed near Nadi Patra, Bhide Bridge/Gadgil Bridge.
Motorists have been advised to follow police diversions and use the designated parking arrangements during the immersion procession.
