Pune, September 30, 2026: A fire broke out at the Bank of India building near Shagun Chowk on Laxmi Road in Pune on September 29.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about an hour, with no injuries or loss of life reported.

The fire control room received information about the incident at 10.11 am. Seven vehicles, including four fire engines and three water tankers, were dispatched from the Central, Kasba, Erandwana, Naidu and Kondhwa fire stations.

On reaching the spot, firefighters found the fire to be severe. Considering the crowded surroundings and nearby buildings, teams immediately worked to prevent the flames from spreading.

Firefighters used hose pipes, breathing apparatus (BA) sets, rope lines and exhaust blowers during the operation. The fire was brought under control in approximately one hour.

The firefighting operation was carried out under the leadership of Chief Fire Officer Ganesh Sonune. Fire Officers Pankaj Jagtap, Kamlesh Choudhary and Nilesh Mahajan, along with nearly 30 firefighters, participated in the operation.
