Pune: Empress Garden Annual Flower Show Begins Today

The much anticipated Empress Garden Annual Flower show is back after a hiatus of two years. The show has not been organized for the last two years due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions. This year the show is being organized from January 25th to 29th at Empress Garden, Ghorpadi, Pune.

 

The Agri-Horticultural Society of Western India organizes the annual event and maintains the garden. Suresh Pingale, secretary of the Agri-Horticultural Society of Western India, stated, “The expo is typically attended by more than 50,000 people per day, but this year we anticipate a greater turnout.” We also anticipate around 2,000 participation from around the world.”

 

After its opening at 12.30 p.m. on January 25, the exhibition will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. from January 26 through January 29.

Anupama Barve, a member of the Flower Show Committee, stated, “Visitors will be able to view three to four lakh flowering plants on 10 acres, particularly roses. We will also have a booth selling Japanese flower arrangements created by students of the renowned Ikebana artist Mona Pingale.”

 

On January 22, there will be a painting and handwriting contest for youngsters aged five to fifteen at the Empress Garden Annual Flower Show. Approximately 1,000 children from several schools across the city will participate.
