Protect Your Right to Vote; Your Complete Guide to Pune’s SIR 2026 Drive

Pune’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 drive

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 drive across Pune District to systematically update and clean the state’s electoral database. This extensive exercise aims to eliminate duplicate, shifted, or deceased entries, ensuring every eligible voter is accurately mapped.

Because the last major intensive revision took place more than two decades ago (between 2002 and 2005), the administration is cross-referencing current voter lists against those baseline records. Whether you are waiting for a Booth Level Officer (BLO) to visit, have already completed your physical paperwork, or want to skip the queue entirely by filing online, this comprehensive guide explains how the process works at every stage.

Stage 1: The Enumeration Phase (How to Submit Your Form)

Active through July 29, 2026

During this phase, electors are required to submit an Enumeration Form (EF) to verify their details. You can complete this step either online or offline.

Option A: Online Self-Enumeration (Fastest & Most Convenient)

If you prefer to avoid waiting for a doorstep visit, you can complete the process digitally:

1. Log in to the official voters.eci.gov.in portal and select the “Fill Enumeration Form” option. You can access this via an OTP sent to your registered mobile number or email.

2. Enter your current EPIC (Voter ID) number to load your pre-filled electoral details.

3. Choose the category that applies to you:

  • Your name exists in the historical last SIR list.
  • Your parents’ or grandparents’ names exist in the last SIR list.
  • Neither your name nor your parents’ names exist in the last SIR list.

4. Complete the Aadhaar verification step using the e-sign tool. (Note: To use this online tool successfully, the name on your EPIC card must match the name on your Aadhaar card exactly, and your mobile number must be linked to your EPIC).

5. Submit the form digitally. Your designated BLO will simply verify your digital submission, significantly expediting your revision.

Option B: Awaiting a Physical BLO Visit

  • What to do: Be patient. Due to heavy monsoon showers in regions like Pune, some door-to-door visits are taking longer than scheduled. Keep your basic details on hand.
  • Key Tip: You do not need complex historic documents. Simply having your Voter ID (EPIC) number, Aadhaar number, and mobile number ready is sufficient.

Option C: You Have Received the BLO but Do Not Have All Documents

  • What to do: Fill out the form and sign it anyway. State election officials have clarified that citizens should not panic over missing paperwork. Completing basic personal details (such as your parents’ names, mobile number, and Aadhaar) and signing the form is enough to secure your spot on the upcoming draft roll. Missing document verifications can be handled later.

Option D: Finished the BLO Visit

  • What to do: Ensure you received a stamped duplicate copy of the Enumeration Form from the BLO. This physical receipt is your primary proof of submission. Your details will now be digitized by the election registry.

Option E: First-Time Voters (Age 18+) & Shifted Residents

  • New Voters: If you turned 18 on or before the qualifying date of July 1, 2026 (born on or before July 1, 2008), you are eligible. Ask your visiting BLO for Form 6 along with the mandatory declaration form, or complete it online.
  • Shifted Residents: If you recently moved, you can submit a Form 8 online to update your address, or wait for the draft roll to register under your new constituency.

Stage 2: Publication of the Draft Electoral Roll

Scheduled for August 5, 2026

Once the enumeration phase concludes, the election office will compile and publish the Draft Electoral Roll. Based on your status, your registration will fall into one of three categories:

  1. Mapped (No Action Required): Your details match the historical records. Your name is added to the draft roll, and you do not need a hearing.
  2. Unmapped/Anomaly Flagged (Hearing Required): Your form was digitized, but your details could not be traced directly to the historical baseline. Your name will appear on the draft roll, but you will receive a notice to attend a brief verification hearing with basic identity proofs.
  3. Excluded: If you refused the form, were consistently absent during BLO visits, or did not submit your details either online or offline, your name will not appear on the draft roll.

Stage 3: The Claims and Objections Window

Active from August 5, 2026, to September 4, 2026

If your name was left off the draft list, contains typos, or requires updates, this is the most critical phase of the program. You can submit official requests online via voters.eci.gov.in or the Voter Helpline App using the following standard forms:

  • Form 6: For eligible citizens whose names were entirely omitted from the draft roll.
  • Form 7: To object to an entry or request the deletion of a duplicate, shifted, or deceased name.
  • Form 8: To request corrections to existing details (such as spellings, age, photo, or address).

The local election office will resolve all claims and objections by October 3, 2026, leading to the publication of the final, updated voter list on October 7, 2026.
