Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police Issue Diversions for Dahi Handi Celebrations Today

Pune Traffic Advisory

Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police have announced major traffic diversions across important stretches in the twin cities on Saturday, September 5, to prevent severe congestion during Dahi Handi celebrations. The temporary restrictions, issued under the Motor Vehicles Act by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vikrant Deshmukh, will remain in effect between 6 PM and 10 PM. Emergency vehicles have been exempted from these rules.

The notification covers high-footfall divisions including Dighi-Alandi, Sangvi, Pimpri, Bhosari, Chikhali, Wakad, and Dehu Road. City police expect massive public turnouts at prominent intersections, necessitating immediate route re-alignments to maintain commuter safety and ensure smooth vehicular movement.

In the Dighi-Alandi area, all heavy and light vehicles traveling from Charholi Phata toward Markal and Shikrapur are prohibited from taking direct routes. Commuters must divert via Tanishq Orchid, Apex International School, and River Nest Society to reach the PCS Chowk bridge. Vehicles heading from Shikrapur toward Pune are being re-routed through Dabhade Vasti.

Sangvi traffic division has closed access from Katepuram Chowk to Krishna Chowk, directing motorists via Gajanan Nagar and Bara Gholap. Vehicles moving from Sai Chowk toward Krishna Chowk are advised to travel through Famous Chowk, Kranti Chowk, and Dinosaur Garden in Pimple Gurav, or pivot via Maheshwari Chowk and Narmada Garden.

In Pimpri, vehicular movement from Jamtani Chowk toward Pimpri Gaon remains restricted. Commuters arriving from Deluxe Chowk or Kalewadi bridge are advised to turn left toward M M Chowk (Geylord Chowk). Furthermore, traffic from Nav Maharashtra Chowk heading to Pimpri Gaon is being routed past Jadhav Wadewale Hotel toward Rahatani bridge.

Bhosari division has restricted access below the Bhosari flyover near Jayka Tea for vehicles coming from Babar Petrol Pump, excluding two-wheelers. The affected traffic must move via Bhosari flyover toward Dawade Vasti, take a U-turn at Sadgurunagar Chowk, and proceed toward Dighi-Alandi. Movement from Phugewadi and Dapodi flyover toward Bopodi via Harris Bridge underpass remains open as a secondary alternative.

Traffic bottlenecks around Phoenix Mall in Wakad are being proactively managed. Vehicles coming from Kalakhadak Chowk will be diverted via Bhumkar Chowk, while traffic approaching from Jaguar Showroom and Balwadkar Petrol Pump toward the mall must use the service road leading to Sayaji Underpass or the rear access road.

Chikhali and Dehu Road divisions have similarly mapped out localized detours around Krishnanagar Market, Sane Chowk, Parandwal Chowk, and the 14 Talkari Kaman area. Local traffic wardens and police personnel have been instructed to erect temporary barricades and place directional signboards to guide motorists along the designated detour routes throughout the evening.
