Maharashtra Electoral Roll Revision: ECI Extends Claims and Objections Deadline to October 12

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra to October 12, 2026.

The extension was granted after the Chief Electoral Officer’s office requested additional time. The Election Commission took the decision at a meeting held on Monday.

The deadline for disposing of notices, claims and objections received during the revision process has been extended to November 10, 2026. The final electoral roll for Maharashtra will be published on November 16, 2026.

BLOs to visit homes to collect documents

As part of the Special Intensive Revision, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit the homes of voters who have been served notices for reasons such as “Unmapped Voters” or “Logical Discrepancies”.

The BLOs will collect the necessary documents directly from these voters during the home visits.

No need to visit ERO or AERO offices for hearings

Since documents will be collected from voters’ homes, the concerned voters will not be required to visit the offices of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for in-person hearings.

Hearings will be conducted online only in exceptional circumstances. In such cases, any adult member of the voter’s family can be present on their behalf.

Special help desks and camps for needy citizens

District Election Officers (DEOs) will organise special assistance counters or Help Desks and special camps as required to help homeless citizens, labourers, the poor and people staying in night shelters with voter registration and corrections to the electoral roll.

The Chief Electoral Officer’s office clarified these arrangements in a statement.
