Bengaluru-based xTerra Robotics launches indigenous wheeled quadruped DHAV-Hy
Bengaluru-based xTerra Robotics has launched DHAV-Hy, a wheeled-legged quadruped robot designed, engineered and built in India. The robot has a maximum speed of 5 metres per second and can carry a payload of up to 10 kg across different terrains.
DHAV-Hy combines motorised wheels with articulated legs. This allows it to roll across open ground while using its legs to negotiate rough terrain, steep slopes and stairs.
According to the company, the wheeled variant has been under research and development for the past three months. xTerra Robotics is now piloting DHAV-Hy for industrial inspection applications.
The lightweight platform has been developed for security, surveillance and inspection work. Its proposed applications include perimeter monitoring, remote observation and scouting, as well as inspection inside industrial plants and multi-level structures.
xTerra Robotics develops autonomous quadruped platforms, robotic actuators and custom robotic solutions for unpaved and unstructured environments. Its primary operations and business activities are based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, while its registered office is in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Apart from DHAV-Hy, the company’s portfolio includes the DHAV quadruped, SCORP and Svan M2 robotics platforms, along with high-torque actuators.
