All Schools Across Pune District to Remain Closed Tomorrow; Collector Revises Order

Jitendra Dudi, the District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Pune has revised his earlier order of declaring holiday only for schools located in ghat areas of Pune district.
The revised order now states that all schools located in Pune district shall remain closed in the backdrop of heavy rain alert issued by IMD.
The order states that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Pune district for July 7, 2026, warning of heavy rainfall, thunder, and lightning and since district is already experiencing heavy downpours, and landslide incidents have been reported in the surrounding ghat areas.
Hence all all primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools, including:
- Zilla Parishad schools
- Municipal schools
- Private aided and unaided schools
- Ashram schools
- English medium schools
Located anywhere in Pune district will remain closed. However, while students get a holiday, all principals, teachers, and non-teaching staff are required to report to school during official working hours to assist local administration with any necessary disaster management duties.

The District Collector has urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid stepping out of their homes unless it is absolutely necessary.
