Pune Feels October Heat as Temperatures Sore to 35 Degrees; Monsoon Withdrawal Likely in 2-3 Days

Pune, October 02, 2026: Daytime temperature in Pune on Friday was reported at 34.8 degrees Celsius, making the heat unbearable, especially with the residual humidity left behind by the monsoon.

The nights are not comfortable either with minimum temperature recorded between 22-25 degrees Celsius at various places in Pune on October 01.

Temperatures are touching close to 38-39 degrees Celsius at some places in Konkan. Birwadi registered 39 degrees Celsius on October 2nd.

Officially, IMD reported state’s highest temperature at 38 degree Celsius in Ratnagiri and the lowest at 18.2 degree Celsius in Jalgaon on October 02.

Along with the rising heat, weather experts are recording dropping moisture levels in Northwest and Central India, including Maharashtra, signaling the withdrawal of monsoon from Pune in the next 2-3 days.

Once the monsoon exits Maharashtra, some respite from heat is possible as moisture levels will drop further, bringing relief from humid heat.

Pune Rainfall During Monsoon 2026

Pune recorded 736.2 mm rain this season from June to September. However, the rainfall has not been uniform with large variations seen across the monsoon months. Half of the season’s rain was recorded in just one week between 03-09 July.

Across Maharashtra, Tamhini Ghat recorded the highest rainfall in 2026 at 9113 mm between June to September 2026.

However, overall, the state has experience approximately 18 percent deficient rainfall this monsoon and the government has declared draught in 265 out of 358 talukas, covering almost 74 percent of the state.
