Will It Rain Anytime Next Week? Here’s What the Weather Forecast Says

Will it rain tomorrow or this week in Maharashtra

As the new week begins, residents across Maharashtra looking to plan their commutes and outdoor schedules are in for a significant change in weather. Following an intense opening week of July that brought heavy localized downpours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated a substantial drop in monsoon activity across the state.

For those asking if it will rain tomorrow or later this week, the short answer for the vast majority of Maharashtra is no. The IMD forecast shows no indication of major or widespread rainfall across the state for the next 3 to 4 days. A dry spell is set to take over central and western districts, providing a much-needed breather from waterlogging and traffic disruptions.

Late-Week Thunderstorm Warnings for Vidarbha

The dry projection does not apply uniformly statewide. While western and central Maharashtra remain clear, eastern regions are bracing for localized rough weather toward the weekend.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning around July 15 and 16. Residents and commuters in the following Vidarbha districts should keep umbrellas handy and track local updates as the weekend approaches:

  • Bhandara
  • Buldhana
  • Chandrapur
  • Gadchiroli
  • Gondia
  • Nagpur
  • Wardha

Why the Monsoon is Pausing: The El Niño Impact

The sudden lull comes right after a wet start to the month. Despite the heavy downpours that marked the first week of July, the IMD’s extended monthly outlook predicts that Maharashtra will see below-normal cumulative rainfall for the rest of July.

Meteorologists attribute this patchy, deficit pattern to the strengthening of El Niño conditions over the equatorial Pacific Ocean. This climate phenomenon typically suppresses monsoon systems over central India, breaking up what started as a highly active rain cycle into scattered, highly localized spells. For the upcoming week, expect dry skies across most major cities, with storm activity limited to the eastern fringes by Thursday.
