Pune Railway Station Upgrade: Construction of Six 750-Meter Platforms, Skywalks, and Third Entrance Underway
Pune railway station is undergoing a substantial upgradation and modernization work with a budget of ₹473 crore to enhance capacity and modernize passenger facilities.
- New Platforms: Six new platforms are being constructed to enhance the capacity of the railway station to hold more trains and reduce congestion on existing platforms. Each of these platforms will 750 meters long to accommodate longer passenger trains.
- Skywalks and FOBs: To connect new platforms to the older ones, many new foot over bridges (FOBs) and modern skywalks are being constructed.
- Third Entrance: Access to the station is being expanded with the construction of a third entrance gate, which will be strategically located next to the goods yard (Maldhakka side) to distribute passenger traffic more evenly.
- New Subway: A new subway will be constructed specifically dedicated to parcel services. This will segregate heavy goods movement from passenger walkways, ensuring better safety, less crowding, and efficient logistics management.
All these facilities are being developed at a breakneck speed and are expected to completed in the near future to provide enhanced facilities for passenger safety and convenience.
