Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express Derails at Pune Station; Passengers Safe
Pune, April 27, 2026: A coach of the Mumbai–Solapur Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 22225) derailed early Monday evening while entering Pune Railway Station. Despite the mechanical failure, railway officials have confirmed that there were no injuries and all passengers are safe.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 PM as the high-speed train was pulling into Platform No. 3. According to Central Railway officials, the front wheel of a trolley on coach C-15 jumped the tracks at the “Diamond Crossing,” a critical junction where multiple tracks intersect, located just outside the platform area.
The train had departed from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai and was en route to its final destination in Solapur.
Emergency Response and Recovery
Immediately following the derailment, technical teams and senior railway officials rushed to the site to assess the damage. While the sudden halt caused a brief moment of panic among commuters, the onboard staff ensured a calm evacuation of the affected coach.
“Safety is our primary concern,” a railway spokesperson stated. “The derailment was localized to a single trolley. We are currently investigating the cause of the incident at the crossing.”
To minimize travel disruption, the railway administration has arranged for a replacement train to transport the stranded passengers to Solapur. In the meantime, maintenance crews are working to re-rail the coach and clear the Diamond Crossing to restore normal traffic flow through the busy Pune hub.
Investigation into whether the incident was caused by a technical snag in the rolling stock or a track-related issue is ongoing.
