HINJAWADI, PUNE – The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has intensified its campaign against unauthorized outdoor advertisements, executing a significant demolition operation in the Hinjawadi IT hub on Monday, April 13, 2026.

In a direct move to bolster public safety and urban regulation, PMRDA officials dismantled a massive illegal hoarding spanning approximately 1,250 square feet at Survey No. 206. The structure was found to have been erected without any prior authorization or safety certifications from the planning authority.

The administration has invoked Sections 52 to 56 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966, which empowers the authority to remove unauthorized developments and prosecute offenders.

According to PMRDA officials, these unchecked structures are not merely administrative violations but significant public safety hazards. “Unauthorized hoardings pose a grave risk to life and property, especially during adverse weather conditions,” a senior official stated. “Strict compliance with structural stability norms is non-negotiable.”

Final Warning to Owners

The PMRDA has issued a stern warning to all hoarding owners across the metropolitan region:

  • Voluntary Removal: Owners of unauthorized structures are urged to dismantle them immediately.
  • Cost Recovery: If the PMRDA is forced to conduct the demolition, the total cost of the operation plus heavy penalties will be recovered from the property owner.
  • Regularization: Owners without proper permits must apply through official channels immediately to complete the legal process.

The administration confirmed that this crackdown in Hinjawadi is only the beginning. A region-wide sweep is planned for the coming weeks to ensure all outdoor media adheres to the established safety and legal frameworks.
