PUNE – Nationalist Congress Party (SP) President Sharad Pawar has been admitted again to the Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Sunday, February 22, 2026, after experiencing symptoms of mild dehydration and physical weakness.
Sharad Pawar Health Update: Condition Stable, Say Doctors
The 85-year-old veteran leader was rushed to the private facility earlier today for follow-up tests. According to a medical bulletin issued by the hospital, Pawar’s vitals are normal and his condition remains stable.
Dr. Purvez Grant, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, confirmed that the leader is currently receiving intravenous (IV) fluids. “He has been admitted for mild dehydration and requires hydration therapy. He is stable and will remain under observation in the hospital for the next two days,” Dr. Grant stated.
Supriya Sule Confirms Hospitalization via Social Media
Confirming the development, his daughter and Baramati MP Supriya Sule took to social media to update well-wishers and party workers.
“We are admitting Baba to Ruby Hall, Pune for follow-up tests and hydration. Thanking all the doctors and healthcare workers,” Sule posted on X (formerly Twitter).
The MP’s post aimed to clarify the nature of the admission as a precautionary measure, following a rigorous medical course the leader had recently completed.
Second Hospitalization in Two Weeks
This marks the second time this month that the NCP (SP) chief has required medical attention. Pawar was previously admitted to the same facility on February 9, 2026, due to chest congestion and a throat infection.
After being discharged on February 14, doctors had advised him to take complete rest. However, reports suggest that a lack of adequate fluid intake and general exhaustion led to the current readmission. Party spokesperson Ankush Kakade emphasized that there is “no cause for panic,” noting that the leader had been feeling weak and finding it slightly difficult to speak before the family decided on a hospital check-up.
Doctors Advise Rest Amid Hectic Schedule
The medical team, including consultant physician Dr. Abhijit Lodha, is closely monitoring the senior statesman. Given his age and recent recovery from a respiratory infection, the medical staff has reiterated the need for Pawar to scale back his public engagements.
The hospital administration has also issued an appeal to NCP (SP) supporters and activists to refrain from crowding the hospital premises to ensure smooth operations and privacy for all patients.
